What happens during the session? Expect a lot of mess on you and your baby! Cake smash photoshoots as basically 3 mini sessions in 1, firstly we do a mini session with a stunning timeless backdrop, all focus is on your beautiful baby. Then after about 15 minutes we than move on to bringing the cake out and let them enjoy playing and eating it. Hopefully they get messy! Then the last stage we get a lovely warm bath out for the baby and blow bubbles and they can have a splash!
When should I book? If you want your images ready for their birthday, to share on social media on the day or for invitations for their 1st birthday party, we recommend booking between 2-4 weeks before their actual birthday to allow enough time for our editing etc.
What do we bring to the studio? It's thirsty work smashing up that cake so a drink is a must! You need to also bring an outfit for the little one to be photographed in during their mini portrait session at the start, we love all simple colours with no logo, bright patterns, or text. Each session is tailored made for just you and your baby. If you want to use one of our studio cake smash outfits then you're more than welcome. A towel for when your baby comes out of the bath!
How long is the session? Sessions usually last out an hour, These sessions are led completely by your baby, some babies love the cake smash but not the bath and vice versa.
What sort of backdrop do you provide? We usually go for a plain backdrop then add an arch of balloons, so we would discuss what colours you like before the session
Do we provide the cake? Yes, you provide the cake! You can either get one professionally made, or just pop to Asda, Tesco or where ever, we always say avoid chocolate cakes. I have twins, can we do a joint cake smash? Of course! If you've had a multiple birth then let us know ahead of time
Can we include siblings? If Mum, Dad and siblings want to be in a handful of photos before the cake comes out. That's absolutely fine...just let us know before hand as we will need to discuss clothing etc.
Do you share my images on social media? We love to share a sneak peek or two of images from your session, we might also use images from your session on my social media pages like Facebook and Instagram as well as our website. If you would prefer your child's images not to be used online, that's fine too, please just us me know before your session.
Can I take my own photos during the session? Please feel free to take some behind the scenes photos of me photographing your little one! However we do not recommend taking close up shots as that is why you've hired us!, mobile phone shots will not do the photographs of your little ones any justice, as I control the lighting etc. So patience is key! Like we said, we will do a sneak peek on our social media platforms if you can't wait too long!
When will our images be ready?
We usually say between 2-4 weeks, however we aim to keep you updated on this as it could be faster. If you are working to a time scale please let us know.
How do we view our images? We will invite you back to view your images on a HD screen back at our Wirral studio, here you can then view them on a big screen and see their full glory! At the viewing/ordering appointment, you can then select your package and choose any wall art that you fancy from a wide range.
