Hi! My name is Elizabeth Wood, I am a married 40 year old mum of two beautiful girls (Faith & Jennifer) aged 18 & 10 and a 3 year old son called Edward!
I mostly shoot alone, but when I need a helping hand I have a fantastic assistant called Natalie, she sometimes helps with the preparation and posing the newborn (she is a great help with the "Froggy" pose, which is a composite of 2 shots for the saftey of the baby) She also helps keep siblings entertained too. She's generally a fantastic help and brilliant with the kids! Natalie is also my second shooter when we photograph weddings, and she carries my bag too which is always a massive help!
I have always been interested in photography, art and design, but after doing my A'levels in Art and Graphic design, then working at Bank Of America in debt management and having our children, I put my dream on the back burner while my husband made his career in IT. I then decided to do something I had held off on for so long....so.....I quit my job at the bank and threw myself into learning photography. I soon began working for John at Studio 900 and gained lots of experience in weddings and portraiture. I still work with him and have been for the last 5 years, which I absolutely love!
I have now been doing photography for 6 years, photographing weddings all around the North West and photographing lots of beautiful family's in my studio based in Oxton, Wirral and on location. I will never look back or want to do anything else in life (well, other than being an astronaut, which is actually what I would love to do! But I do need to be realistic!) I have been running my own company for 5 years now and enjoying every moment.
I am a member of The Guild Of Photographers, In November 2018 I was awarded top 3 Wirral photographers by ThreeBestRated.co.uk!...and again in August 2019!
I also won 8 Bronze Bar awards with The Guild Of Photographer. I was over the moon!
I especially love taking photographs of children, they are just so honest and natural, Every child is beautiful and I can get the most beautiful photographs of even the shyest child. We also have lots of fun in the process so my location sessions feel like a day out for the family.
I love meeting all the new wonderful family’s that pass through my studio. My real passion is newborn photography. To me, capturing your new arrivals first couple of weeks is priceless. We all know that newborn babies change daily and we often forget what our children were like as newborns, their little milk spots, their little creases, their chubby cheeks.... So it’s a must to capture this on camera for you to treasure.
At my studio I am fully equipt with many props, backdrops, beautiful fabrics, layers, bonnets, tie backs and beautiful newborn outfits, so all you need to do is bring your little one along with their milk and nappies as I take care of the rest. I have a range of colour’s and textures, baskets, bowls and a newborn posing beanbag so you will get a wide range of different images. If you bring your newborn within the first two weeks of their life, we will be able to get those stunning sleeping baby images, after the two weeks it’s more difficult as they become much more alert and are harder to pose. But in my experience, all babies are so different, they lead the session and they are in charge!
At From Lizzy With Love Photography, I promise to capture your children in the most beautiful way, they will feel relaxed and have fun too. I can photograph your babies 1st birthday with a cake smash! This is a lovely thing to do as we all know that when they are the big one, they would just rather play with a box instead of a toy! So I find a lot of parents doing cake smashes instead of spending money on an expensive gift (which will probably get tossed to one side so they can play with the box!) it’s a nice experience for your little one....they can even do the big package and have a big splash in a tin bath after they have smashed up the cake!
I have also just introduced Paint Splashes into in studio! These are perfect for the older child, for a special birthday or just because your little one loves to paint. I will capture them painting a masterpiece and you even get to keep the canvas! My son recently turned 2 and this was the perfect time for him to do a Paint Splash for my portfolio!
in 2016 I completed a day at a newborn photography workshop, here I trained in all aspects of newborn photography, from positioning of the baby, parent preparation, setting up and styling for the session, camera technique and settings, safety handling of baby, and soothing techniques to keep baby asleep throughout the session. It was such a great day and I have now gained a certificate to show that I trained in Newborn Photography.
In February 2019 I completed further newborn training with the talented Debbie Booth in her Bolton studio. I feel it is important to keep up with training, learning new poses & techniques. Most importantly the baby's safety and comfort.
This is most definitely the career I have always wanted and I hope to make people happy through my lens, and, with love of course. I choose the name From Lizzy With Love Photography because it suits what I'm all about, I take photographs with love and aim to get the best shots I possibly can that capture the moment.
